Viconship

Viconship promotes the socializations of dredging shipping channels

"Without regular maintenance and dredging, the channel depth will be difficult to maintain at -8.5 m. Ensuring a uniform channel depth creates equality for ports, especially the two terminals Nam Hai Dinh Vu Port and VIP GreenPort."

Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam - COO of Viconship.

The efforts have eliminated the need for vessels to wait for tides, significantly increasing the capacity to receive larger vessels at Viconship's port system.

Pursuant to Document No. 10731/BGTVT-KHĐT issued by the Ministry of Transport, the Vietnam Maritime Administration has approved Viconship's proposal to dredge and upgrade the Hai Phong shipping channel from the upper reaches of Nam Dinh Vu Port to Nam Hai Dinh Vu Port, specifically the Vip Greenport area - two ports directly under Viconship's management.

The channel has a length of 3.7 km and a depth of -8.5 meters. The channel width varies from 80 to 120 meters between kilometer markers 31+200 and 32+200 (1,000 meters long); from 80 meters between kilometer markers 32+200 and 33+770 (1,570 meters long); and from 80 to 110 meters between kilometer markers 33+770 and 34+900 (1,130 meters long).

Viconship's C.O.O, Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam, announced that the company will initiate the necessary procedures upon receiving approval from the Vietnam Maritime Administration and plans to start the project in January 2025. The project is anticipated to be completed within 1.5 to 2 months with a total investment of approximately 60 billion VND.

After the upgrade, the 3.7-kilometer-long Hai Phong shipping channel, with a depth of minus 8.5 meters, is set to become a key waterway in the region, attracting major shipping lines. This will not only reduce shipping costs but also boost the competitiveness of Viconship's port system in the international market.
